FAQs

Answers before you connect your Tesla.

Practical guidance for setting up VoltMate, understanding records, choosing a plan, and knowing when to contact support in Switzerland.

Setup
What do I need before using VoltMate?

You need an iPhone, a VoltMate account, a Tesla account you can authorize, and at least one Tesla linked to that Tesla account. Switzerland pages use CHF, kilometres, and UK/EU Supabase project language.

Does VoltMate ask for my Tesla password?

No. VoltMate connects through Tesla authorization. Tesla account passwords and Tesla MFA stay with Tesla.

Why does Tesla virtual key pairing appear after authorization?

Tesla may require virtual key pairing before an app can safely perform vehicle command workflows. VoltMate keeps this visible during onboarding instead of hiding it behind a generic connection error.

Can I change setup details later?

Yes. Region, electricity-rate, AI consent, trip-tagging, charging, and privacy-related settings are designed to remain editable from the relevant app areas where available.

Trips, charging, records
How does VoltMate record trips?

VoltMate uses authorized Tesla vehicle data and app-side context to build trip records in kilometres. Trips can be reviewed and tagged as business or personal where your plan supports those workflows.

Can I edit a trip tag later?

Yes. Trip records are designed to be reviewed, corrected, and retagged if a business or personal classification was wrong.

What tax records does VoltMate support here?

For Switzerland, VoltMate is positioned around exportable business records. It helps prepare cleaner records, but it does not replace professional tax, accounting, legal, financial, or insurance advice.

What if a trip or charge looks wrong?

Check that Tesla authorization is connected, the vehicle has recently synced, and the relevant trip or charging session has finished. If the record still looks wrong, contact support with the date, approximate time, and what you expected to see. Do not send sensitive screenshots unless support asks for them.

Plans and billing
What is included in Free?

Free is for one vehicle with the basic dashboard and 7-day recent history, so users can see whether VoltMate fits before paying.

What is Pro for?

Pro is for one Tesla owner who wants deeper history, AI after consent, smart charging, and automations. In Switzerland, planned launch pricing is CHF 9.90/mo or CHF 99/yr, with Apple showing final checkout terms before purchase.

What is Pro+ for?

Pro+ is for one account tracking up to 3 owned vehicles. In Switzerland, planned launch pricing is CHF 15.90/mo or CHF 159/yr.

What is Business for?

Business is for owners who need business records, exports, and accountant-ready reporting across up to 5 owned vehicles. Business pricing is scoped through support before purchase, so contact us for the current Switzerland Business path.

How does Fleet work?

Fleet is not a fixed App Store tier. It is scoped directly based on vehicles, drivers, reporting, onboarding, support, and admin-dashboard requirements.

Need the plan comparison?

Plan cards show the current public positioning for Free, Pro, Pro+, Business, and contact-sales Fleet.

Privacy and support
Where are my core app records stored?

Core app records for Swiss users are positioned around the UK/EU Supabase project. Some integrations may process limited operational data outside that region where required to operate an enabled feature.

Does AI use my data automatically?

No. AI is consent-led. AI features use VoltMate records only after the user enables AI features, and users can turn AI off where the app provides that control.

How do I get help?

Email support@voltmate.app with the app region, device type, affected feature, and approximate time of the issue. For fleet enquiries, use the Fleet page so vehicle and driver scope can be captured properly.

Still stuck?

Use the support page for setup checks, troubleshooting steps, and the safest way to contact VoltMate.
